It's been a while since I wrote a blog, which had some reasons.
In the meantime, I have arrived well in Germany.
At the beginning of May, I celebrated my Master's Graduation at FAU with my parents. With that, I am officially done with my studies. I have successfully passed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. :)
From the beginning of May, unfortunately, I had another protracted injury. Only in Germany was the cause discovered. It was a thigh strain resulting from blockages and misalignments in the hip and back.
The pain was very severe, even when walking. After almost 2 weeks of training, I had to get through the last 2 races of my FAU track time: 10,000 m and 5,000m at the Conference Championships.
As you can imagine, it was torture - a combination of pain plus problems with my asthma due to the high humidity. It was hell. - I had the thought of quitting every lap.
But - done is done - and that is an achievement I am proud of. I could finish both races. The time was certainly not ok. But I had the feeling on the track at the end of my adventure in America again.
After that, I finally went home, where I landed on May 20. I have rarely been so relieved to have closed a chapter.
After a few weeks and a lot of rest, I felt better mentally and physically. I found my general joy again :)
Good physio treatment brought me, luckily, rapid improvements injury-wise!
(Thanks to Stefan Tenzer and Franziska Buhl - Oberstdorf)
In June, I got back into cycling and swimming well. In the last 2 weeks, I tested myself a few times on running.
I knew as soon as I trusted myself to do a competition load, then I did it ;)
Admittedly, it was a bit of a balancing act...
Sonnenwendlauf 23.6.2023 - 10,6km
My start into the competition at home! I had a handful of running attempts with the solid condition of my body.
The Sonnenwendlauf was, for me, seen as a "casual run" without any competition thoughts. I just wanted to have the feeling and show me once again in the home :)
Default from my coach 4:00 - 4:15min / km - so a brisk loose run.
I have also pulled through ;) Proud of it. As a plus, I could celebrate by far the women's overall victory.
There was little rest; the run was a slight preload for my season's first race!
1.Triathlon Bundesliga Schliersee 25.6.2023
I was allowed to start my triathlon season in the 1st national league. I was thrilled and grateful to have had this opportunity.
For the last 3 years, I didn't have a decent triathlon season! So it was quite a challenge, especially regarding my preparation. But I mastered everything. And as Gerhard, the boss, says, "The race is made for me"!
Before the start, I had jitters and panic, as usual. Luckily the swim comes first, I thought to myself. The scenery was at least dreamlike.
The starting signal was given, and we girls set off on the 750m swim course in beautiful Schliersee.
In short: swimming was not good, even if the gap was smaller than the years before. The gap was there. I came out of the water in 54th place.
Bike: Let's go. My fire was rising! I humanely rode the 10km on the flat and wanted some grains for the climb. As soon as I entered the 4km long climb to the Spitzingsattel, I caught up with the first athletes. In the fast lane, it was from now on!
Run: I came into transition zone 2 in 34th place: off the bike, and quickly into the running shoes. The 5km went by very fast but was tough. I am satisfied, but the run was not an excellent performance.
Finish 22nd place! WOW - I made up 32 places. I had the 18th fastest bike and the 7th fastest run time. That is awesome.
IN TEAM, we girls finished in 2nd PLACE!!! The KTT01 is on the podium. Awesome. I am thrilled. The girls were all so strong!!!
Finally, a KTT01 weekend again. No matter who is there, it is always tremendous fun. I had this fun, and this cheerfulness was missed. I love it :)
My swimming has to get better; then everything will look different :D But that will come. Now I hopefully have the chance to swim and train with other athletes at some point. Whereby 🤔- could I have the warm weather of Florida for that? ;-)
After the weekend, I was exhausted. Sleep deprivation is high thousand and simply exhausting. This has also been kept for a few days. The positive thing to note is that it did not hurt my leg but can continue to build. Yippee!
Nebelhornberglauf 02.07.2023
And already, I'm moving on in the action. After I have a great opportunity in Montenegro, I should train in some mountain running ;)
Since the Nebelhornberglauf has offered itself as a perfect training session.
Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. It was cold, rainy, and foggy - the only thing missing was snow. At least the Nebelhorn lived up to its name!
There were 1420hm on a distance of 9.7km to master, virtually from the valley station to the summit.
The race course was good; I had fun. From time to time, it was pretty steep, and I still had to learn how to get up there the fastest. I think that with a bit of practice, this will be something.
From the Höfatsblick (1932m), it was nasty. There was an icy wind, it drizzled, and my hands were frozen within seconds. Bahh, that was no fun anymore.
Well, you still got to the finish line. :D
Overall victory in the women's and 13th place in the run-in. Glad about it very much :)
Those were 2 eventful months that somehow seem so long but also so short at the same time😅.
All the happier that things are looking up again physically. I'm ready for whatever comes next!
From now on, you'll hear from me more often - I will no longer disappear ;)
