Harvard & Boston Indoor Track Meet 04./05.02.22

After my races in Birmingham, I could successfully get into my structured training routine! 2 weeks of good work are behind me, I feel great! That's what makes it fun.

The perceived more stressful part is the college stuff. Lol. That was more exhausting and impacted recovery more than the workouts. 🤣

All the more, I was looking forward to a few days off. ;)

It's RACE WEEK.

Thursday 02/03/22

It goes to Boston! That means icy cold, snow, and old beautiful buildings.

Our trip was relaxed....theoretically.

3h flight delay; straight to the track so the sprinters could still do their shakeout.

After 9 pm on the food search; 10:30 pm finally at the hotel. Then finished writing my last assignment for my class and went to sleep.

So - the normal craziness 👌🏻✌🏼. Always fun.

Friday 02/04/22

Puuuuh - maybe I should break out the Redbull today after all? :D

First Meet Day! Today we were at Harvard University - yes, that's it!

A relatively short meet. We drove there only at 3 pm.

Almost all of us distance girls ran the mile. Coach wanted to use it as preparation for tomorrow.

It was a good thing too; the race was a bit chaotic in a short story. :D

I crossed the finish line with a time of 5:17min! If I have that as a passing time tomorrow, it's running!

The cooldown was fun. In the meantime, the rain turned into snow, and it got colder.

Saturday 02/04/22

Meet day 2. Boston University !!! The 2 universities are close and our hotel is in the middle.

I wanted to concentrate on the 3km today & then with a short break of 30 min I would go for the 5km. Isn't that rather crazy! :D

The meet was big, and a lot of people were there. On the mile, there were almost 100 girls registered, lol (if they all ran, I don't know).

My first start wasn't until after 5 pm. I was put into the first heat of a total of two 3,000m heats. Coaches and I planned to run well sub 10min.

It came out a 10:12 min. A little disappointed and frustrated, but cheer up - it goes on.

Short massage, loosened up my legs, and I was back on the track. I wanted to run the 5km. No matter what happened before. What I have started will be finished.

During the 5km, I was relaxed, easy going in the flow; I chose & kept my pace very calm. Honestly, I did not know how my body would react after the preload, so rather "easy" pace.

17:41 min was my time at the finish.

Okay - to summarize My previous 5,000m's, I could not manage much faster here. Does that mean I ran now with a 3km race preload the same time as otherwise without? I think that's OKAY & shows what :) I told you, my races are questionable.^^

I will find the solution. I'll never give up.

IMPORTANT: The whole team has brought super performances in the past few days. I am proud of all. Everyone has performed. There were so many PR's! Awesome!!! It makes me so happy to see how everyone is improving, how everyone is doing their best. I think our Conference Championships can come :)

Sunday 02/07/22

A long weekend comes to an end. I feel the short nights. My legs are fine though.

Our plane Sunday evening went fortunately on time 😉 .

Thanks for the weekend. For now, we have one more week of training before we head into Conference Week!!!
