The time had come: our conference championships were coming up! I was looking forward to it. 😊

Travel day to Birmingham, once again. But: the last time for this year, because the journey to Birmingham is really tough. After almost 10h we arrived late in the evening, then it was straight to bed!

Rest day. We had an easy run in the morning, and then we had the day to relax. I was glad about that; I was drained. 😉 Actually, I wanted to be productive; in the end, I just watched some lectures and spent most of the time in bed. In the evening, we went to the track and had dinner together.

Competition day 1! Most of the competitions took place in the afternoon from 3 pm. In the morning were the multi-events. However, Kaitlyn (FAU) competed in the Pentathlon and finished 4th!!! Sooo good!!!
In the afternoon, they continued with the sprint/mid-distance heats. Everyone on the team delivered and there were many personal bests! It is just nerve-racking and exciting to watch all the competitions.
My heat was scheduled at 6:30 PM - the 5,000m 😉. We were three FAU girls. On the track almost 30 girls. There was quite a bit going on; action guaranteed. Lol.
II finished with a time of 17:28 min and placed 9th, which is a small PR for me indoors.
I am satisfied with the race and notice progress. I was more relaxed and better with the action, meaning the pushing, boxing, and kicking didn't irritate me as much anymore. It's definitely not my performance yet, but I can't expect to make a 180-degree turn overnight. Every little step needs to be taken. 😊
To finish the first day, the DMR took place (Distance Medley Relay). The distances are 1200m - 400m - 800m - 1600m, a pretty cool event, in my opinion. Our girls were awesome, new school record!!! Congratulations!

The morning went by faster than expected. The meet day was relatively short; we started at noon and finished at 3 pm.
Almost all Distance girls started over the 3000m. There were 3 heats in total; Paige and I were in the second.
Smooth 10 min, it was close - but I can take it 😉.
It was emotionally one of the best races I've had - thoughts came, and I let them go, for the most part. I was active and involved. Physically too; sometimes, a few people were quite annoying. That's how it is now on the small track. In all: I learned a lot 😊
The weekend was a success for everyone. The atmosphere was great in the team. Everyone performed well, be it on the Sprint side or Distance side. Everyone is progressing and getting better. 😊
And now I am more than ready for a break from running.
The past weeks with a ton of laps on a banked track had their impact. Pain in the shin and foot torture me step by step. The weekend was only to survive.
Well, the indoor season is over with it. Full speed into recovery. The switch is coming --> outdoor season. :D.
With that: Train hard, recover harder 😉
