C-USA Championships Cross Country, Charlotte 10/30/2021

I can't believe it, it's Conference Week. Time is flying by. The most important race is coming up, but am I ready? You bet.

The season has been a little bumpy, but I'm finally back to full speed. It feels so good; the training is going.

Travel Day! We left early in the morning from Boca Raton to Charlotte. We flew this time. We flew directly to Charlotte and had our race there as well, meaning no more hours of van driving 😉 .

We arrived there in the afternoon. The welcome was rather gloomy - it was raining and cold. Bruuuh - finally some fall weather 😃

I went for a grocery trip and then a short run.

I woke up early and had breakfast, then we headed to the park - course check.

The weather was nice - chilly but sunny. Finally, the fall feeling comes. Simply gorgeous. That is really what I miss in Florida. Colored leaves and leaves everywhere; unfortunately, the mountains are still missing here ;)

I liked the course very much. That's how I imagine cross country! It was a big 6km loop, with climbs and downhills, but also grass and gravel. Really cool!

The rest of the day I spent with university stuff. That brought my head to smoke. Yoga in the evening brought me down a bit. We had again team dinner, and I was finally in bed!

Race day!!! At 6 am my breakfast was ready - served in the room with some Nutella rolls. So as always prepared :).

We got ready, and at 8:15 am, we left for the competition venue. It was cloudy and colder; about 10-12°C. I had a few layers on (at least before the race 🤦♀️).

The usual procedure was on; chill, warm-up, and off we go.

At 10 am, the starting gun went off.

The race was all right. It was the best of the

season, so it's another step in the right direction - the work is going on.

I know I like to look at the result in absolute terms and set my expectations very high, no matter what situation I'm in. I often make that mistake and don't run free. I learn, and eventually, it clicks ;)

In summary, the result was very good for me. I can still call myself "All-Conference Third Team." I finished in 21st place. :))

The girls all brought the best performances of the season. The peak at the right time, I would say. Still, the team score did not show our goal! It was a strong race.

We still have the NCAA South Regionals coming up in 2 weeks. That's going to be fun, I'm looking forward to it.

🙂
