Back in America :)

On 01/01/2022, I already had to fly back to Florida. The spring semester and the track season are in the starting blocks.

Once I arrived in Florida, my goal was to get quickly back to my daily routine. Unfortunately, the trip and jet lag threw a twist in my plans. I spent the first 2 weeks more recovering than anything else. That's how I know myself by now...

Soooo, I was happy that I could travel to our first meet 😉.

01/13/2022 Travel Day!!!

We headed to Birmingham, Alabama. This time we left late, so we didn't arrive at the hotel until late in the evening. Fortunately, the trip went smoothly. Our team has grown a bit since we are now traveling with the sprinters :)

01/14/2022 UAB Blazer Invite / 01/15/2022 Vulcan Invite

Two days of competition were ahead of us. Today the 3km was on the schedule for me, and tomorrow I start over the mile (1600m) & 5km.

I knew it would be a surprise and just had to see how my body would do.

3km: all right, started well - after the back out lacked power and drive. I was slacking. (10:07min)

1 mile: rather funny. I was unfortunately in the "slowest heat" because I didn't have a set time. From start to finish I ran alone, and at some point, I found myself in my 5k pace. Yes, I'm still not really practiced with that distance. I laugh about it; I'll do better next time. ;) (5:20min)

5km: Another "start-finish" solo run. I did it, but the days wore me out. (17:43min)

In summary, my performance was okay and good, for the circumstances. The positive thing I can take away is mental. My previous perception of the track was associated with anxiety & panic. This time I was able to get used to it. In addition, the mile helped me to see everything relaxed and more relaxed; I could only laugh at myself.

So, maybe I still manage to build a "relationship" with the track 😉. A basis is created, I want to keep that.

And now on, looking forward to getting back into the good full load practice life! There is work to do 😊.

Sunday 01/16/2022

Actually, our plane would have gone back to Miami in the evening.

Due to snowstorm warnings and flight cancellations, we decided to drive back with the vans. :)

Well, I'm not mad about it. Whether it's 9-10 hours of flight travel or just about 12h of driving; It's not a big difference.

Birmingham is always associated with a lot of events.

Thanks for the weekend 😊
